Here is my journey towards the Valley of Flowers the dream place to visit.
We started our journey from Haridwar to Govindghat in the month August since we were suggested that it is the best time to travel the Valley of Flowers trek. The journey was full of adventure. Since, it was the rainy season and was risky to travel this due to landslides in the hills.
We traveled in GMVN Bus( Garhwal Mandal Vikash Nigam ) and shared a taxi or private vehicle available for transport.
From Haridwar, we started or journey in the early morning as it was a long way to go. In the hills we can’t predict how the weather will turn up.
And here comes the big hurdle at Chamoli, there was a big landslide on the way and vehicles got stuck till Nandapyag.
That day landslide did not got cleared, so we waited till the next day to get the way cleared. We decided to stay in a hotel as only such option was available, we all stayed in one hotel having 3 or 4 rooms. Here we decided, all women will stay in one room and all men in one room.
The hotel was in a beautiful place besides to Alaknanda river. From the balcony, you can enjoy the Alanknada river view, and that was amazing. I got up early to see the sunrise and, due to fog, I could not saw it. But, I watched the foggy view of the mountains everything was so beautiful. After having breakfast, we were waiting for when the landslide will get cleared. In the meantime, we discussed the Valley of Flowers, Badrinath temple, and all other different places.
Journey Towards Valley of Flowers
We all decided to go to the Valley of the Flower together. We decided to move ahead from the landslide area. But, the route was not clear as a big rock was fallen on the road. So, we took another way, crossed the landslide area, and booked a taxi to Govindghat.
We reached Govindghat around 8 pm. At the dropping point of Govindghat, we booked a hotel and stayed that night there. After freshening up we had our dinner, some of us went to the Govindghat Gurudwara had langer. It was too cold outside, hear the river roar full of water.
The next morning, we started our journey towards Ghanghria village, which is about 14 km distance from Govinghat to Ghanghria. We went both to the Valley of Flowers and, Hemkund sahib as it is in the same direction and the base camp same for both.
Trekking In Valley of Flowers
I started my trek at 7 a.m in the morning. You need to do the registration at the gate of the Valley of Flowers. The forest department will give you the slip and, you need to follow all the rules while entering the Valley.
It was the best trek of my life. Everywhere covered with flowers, lush green mountains, it looks like the mountain covered with a green carpet. It is around 5 km to reach from the starting point of the valley till that point. It is an uphill trek then the plain area is covered with flowers. Thousands of variety of flowers are there and the river Pushpabati flowing beside. The way was beyond beauty, everywhere covered with flowers and mini water strain. I just sat on top of one big rock and just enjoyed the beauty of the valley. One can sit for an hour and an hour.
In hills, one should follow the rules, “Need to respect nature and listening to nature”.
I started my return around 2 pm and reached at 4 pm. Had tea and came back to the hotel where my mom and brother were staying. They could not go to the Valley of flowers. They stayed at the hotel as they were so tired.
The next day we came back to Govindghat and continued our journey towards Badrinath.
